University of Hawaii Saxophone Choir

The University of Hawaii Saxophone Choir began in the spring semester of 1996. From its grass roots beginning of 10 members, the group has continued to grow which now includes university students, community members and as well as professional saxophonists.

The ensemble covers a wide repertoire ranging from medieval, classical, atonal, to pop and jazz idioms. The group performs many original arrangements and has also commission several new compositions.

The Saxophone Choir has featured many guest artists including Gabe Baltazar, Noel Okimoto, Harvey Pittel, Maya Hoover, The Pacific Harp Project and David Choy. They have also traveled to perform in Texas and twice to Japan.

Next year the Saxophone Choir will celebrate with 25th year with premiering new compositions and featuring several guest artists.
